Trogir

Trogir from the island Ciovo Trogir is one of the oldest towns in Croatia. Because of its cultural heritage it has been pronounced city - museum from the UNESCO, under which protection Trogir is.

Trogir was built 3rd century B.C. when it was inhabited by Greek merchants. From the 13th to 16th century, Trogir reaches its cultural peak. That was the period when the famous Radovan's portal was built, also as Trogir cathedral, several museums, Northern city gates and other famous monuments.

St. Lovre's cathedral
The St. Lovre's cathedral started to build in the 13th century and was finished in 18th century. The most interesting thing about the cathedral is its bell tower which was build through 4 different centuries, and every floor of the bell tower was built in the cultural style that was popular in that century; romantic, gothic, renesanse, and baroque.

Radovan's portal
Radovan's portal is one of the most famous arts in Croatia and in the world. Portal was built 1340, and is situated on the entrance of the St. Lovre's cathedral. It shows two lions, the Adam and the Eve, saints that were characteristic for Trogir, the birth of Jesus Christ and a struggle of a man and a beast. Groups of tourists from all over the world come to Trogir every year to admire this master peace of Croatian sculpturing.

Kamerlengo fortress
As Trogir was on constant caution from the Turks and Venice, the defense of the town was crucial. One of the remaining of that defense is the Kamerlengo fortress. Its nowadays purpose is a concert arena, cinema on the open, and it also serves as the lookout point and many more.

Besides being a cultural city, Trogir is also a city of fun. Besides many top restaurants who offer fresh Dalmatian specialties as quality fish, Dalmatian cheese and pršut (Dalmatian smoked pork), there are may bars and clubs for the younger visitors.

Trogir also has an ACI marina. If you were meaning to come to Trogir with your boat, you can find a berth in the marina. The airport is 5 km from the Trogir in case you would like to fly to Trogir.
